Unbroken

Written by M.D. Schaffer
Directed by M. Hatten

In this adaptation of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None," 9 Black long-term friends go to a villa in the Sonoran Desert to celebrate the recent financial success of entrepreneur Owen Christianson. However, when Owen doesn't come because of the recent murder of his twin brother, the situation turns perilous when a mysterious assailant appears, trapping and killing each of the friends for the skeletons that they've each kept in the closet. As their numbers dwindle, they try to unite and discover why they're being murdered, who is behind the vicious killings, and, more importantly, try to survive.

Available Roles:

Owen Christianson: Jordan's twin brother. An eccentric, partner at a global organization. A Mark Cuban type. Black. Male. Late 30s - Early 40s. Also will play Owen’s twin brother, Jordan Christianson.

LaVelle Rosemary: A metaphysical business woman who deals in potions and teas. Always tries to be the calmest in the room even when she's obviously triggered by what she perceives to be mistakes. She's guarded, but tries to play like she's not. Serena's mother. Black. Female. Late 50s - Early 60s.

Lamar Paskel: A security guard. So damn masculine it's unwavering. But has a soft spot for his boyfriend, Joel. Always on guard from trauma. Black. Male. Late 30 - Early 40s.

Laila Vassell: An acclaimed fictional author. Secretly pregnant and level-headed. The most calculative. Dear friends with Lamar. Avery's significant other. Black. Female. Mid to late 30s.

Joel Miranda: The most fit, handsome man you can find. He's sexy, built, rich, and confident. And he fucking knows it. If you've worked that hard for it, why not feel it. Black. Male. Mid 20s to Early 30s.

Mack Mead: A former drug dealer turned Target manager. Trying to build herself back into society one step at a time. Really looking to atone for what she's done. Brandon's sister. Black. Female. Late 20s to Early 30s.

Brandon Mead: A college professor, and a young one at that. A bit on the bougie side and unapologetic. Big on the classics. Mack's brother. Black. Male. Mid 20s to Late 20s.

DB Fanon: A criminal defense lawyer. They're good at their job and pragmatic as hell. Quick tongue and quicker mind. Black. Non-Binary. Late 20s to Early 30s.

Avery Johnson: A investing consultant. A caring but really anxious person. His mind always seems to travel. Serena's boss. Laila's significant other. Black. Male. Mid to Late 30s.

Serena Rosemary: Avery's reserved intern. Has a wealth of knowledge on all things horror but tries not to speak up about it. Suffers from insomnia. Black. Female. Early to Mid 20s.

The Assailant: The entity who is the plight upon this group of old friends. All effort should be put into making them as genderless and unidentifiable as possible. What's the fun of a murder mystery if when we see them we can tell who they are based on height or body shape?

STAGE DIRECTIONS: Seeking a performer who can match the rhythm of the show, and provide layered and exciting readings that guide the show. Black. Will also play Cameron Hugh, a ghost of a small child.

grease my chin

Directed by Peter Charney

Tensions are running high on an annual family camping trip — and the onset of the zombie apocalypse sure doesn’t help. Disputes over parenting, pronouns, and privacy give way to a fight for survival as a family wrestles with its own monstrosity. In Jude Cramer's hereditary horror grease my chin, family secrets and passed-down prejudices come to light around the campfire in a blood-splattered battle between three generations.

Available Roles:

MURRAY: A teenage boy. Angry.

MAX: A nonbinary teenager. Accommodating.

AGGIE: An 80-year-old grandmother. Resigned.

DEBBIE: A middle-aged mother. Stubborn.

WILL: A 50-something father. Optimistic. Plays the guitar.

MIKE: An aging bigot (and father and uncle). Asleep.

STAGE DIRECTIONS. Seeking a performer who can match the rhythm of the show, and provide layered and exciting readings that guide the show.

The Scouts

Written by Alice Nora and Emmpy Kuperschmid

Let’s go, Scouts! Skippy, Rascal, Tiny, and Pup are off on their scout hiking weekend. Led by Scoutmaster Waldo, these next 36-48 hours will contain tests of courage, trust, and brotherhood that will change them forever. But there's something watching them in the woods. Are any of them prepared?

Available Roles:

Per the playwrights: The Scouts are to be played by non-male identifying actors, and should be adults not children. Scoutmaster Waldo can be played by an actor of any gender. This play should reflect the world in all ways, including both racial and size diversity.

SCOUTMASTER WALDO: He/him. The Scout leader. He BELIEVES in this. Takes scouting very seriously. Easily irritated when questioned.

SKIPPY: Reads a lot of books. He knows he’s smart. 12 years old.

TINY: Loves his mom (maybe to a fault?). Talks in a widdle voice. 12 years old.

PUP: Thinks he’s too cool. Want to be his brother when he grows up. 12 years old.

RASCAL: His mind goes a million miles an hour. He’s a lot but he’s always well meaning. 12 years old.
