Alan Gonzalez

Associate Producer

Alan Ramos-Gonzalez (he/they) is a bilingual genderfaer, proud Mexican, El Paso, TX born, NYC-based actor/singer/strong mover/bartender.  Alan earned his BA in Psychology with a Minor in Women’s Studies (concentration in gender/identity studies) from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Certificate of Professional Training in Musical Theatre from AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy NYC).

Alan had the pleasure of joining the Tier5 family for Tier5 Sings! Witch, Please! in October 2020 and has been performing with them ever since.  Alan is what’s known as a MTLB (musical theatre late bloomer) - booking his first performance in a musical in 2010 at the ripe old age of 20 at the encouragement of his now husband.  “Why not just audition? If you get it, you get it. If not, whatever.”

Since moving to NYC in 2012, his life has been a whirlwind, from booking a full-time gig doing puppetry and bilingual children’s theatre to connecting shelters/schools/senior centers with teaching artists for enrichment. Amid this chaos was a temporary retirement from performing after developing vocal polyps, giving Alan the perspective to really embody his true self (read: Elsa) and learn to LET IT GO. Letting go of expectations about his voice helped Alan find the joy and fun in singing again and he went back to booking consistently. . . until the pandemic.

Alan is also involved with the St. Bart’s Players (NYC’s oldest running community theatre) as a performer and a member of the Diversity and Inclusion committee.  Theatre is collaborative and has never been created in a vacuum, and at its best, it reflects the society in which it is created.  Alan believes in directing, performing, and collaborating through a queer, feminist, anti-ableist, body-positive, and actively anti-racist lens. If we are not actively dismantling oppressive systems, we are in fact the oppressors.

Alan is thrilled to begin his work with Tier5 to bring his unique and empowering vision to life with this inclusive theatre company.
